About the Workshop:
In this workshop, I’ll play and discuss a few examples of some banjo tunings (Venezuelan, Basque, French and Spanish waltzes) you may not be familiar with and then break down and teach a mazurka from Lapland rendered in one of my favorite tunings for performing minor music.
Lucas Hicks is a multi-instrumentalist from Bellingham, Washington. He has been playing banjo for 17 years and has taught private lessons and workshops on the US, Canada and the Basque Country. He has performed professionally on a variety of instruments in 49 states, Canada and Europe. He has a BA in music from WWU and is slightly uncomfortable writing self aggrandizing narratives in the third person.
